What is a 3 Layer Commercial Momo Steamer?

A 3 layer momo steamer is a commercial kitchen machine that uses steam to cook momos in three trays at the same time. Water sits in the base bowl. When the machine is switched on, the heating element heats the water and steam rises up through all three trays. Momos placed in the trays cook from the steam — no oil, no direct heat, no boiling water touching the food.

The Chefs Shop MSO3 runs fully on electricity. No gas cylinder needed. You just plug it into a normal socket, fill the base with water, place your momos in the trays, and switch it on. In 10 to 15 minutes, your momos are ready to serve.

Why 3 Layers Make a Real Difference

When you run a momo stall or a small restaurant, speed matters. If you only have one tray, you cook one batch at a time. With three trays, you cook three batches in the same time. That means more momos per hour, shorter wait times for customers, and more money in your pocket by the end of the day.

Each tray in this machine is 15 inches wide. You can fit a good number of momos per tray without crowding. All three trays steam at the same time, and the steam is even — momos on the top tray cook just as well as the ones on the bottom.

Built for Daily Commercial Use

This machine is made to run every day. The base is SS-202 stainless steel which does not rust easily and handles the heat and moisture of a working kitchen well. The trays are food-grade aluminium — light to handle, quick to heat up, and safe for food contact.

At 15 kg, the machine stays stable on your counter. It does not shake or move around during use. The thermostat knob lets you set the heat level. A green light tells you the power is on. A red switch controls the machine. The controls are simple — anyone in your kitchen can use this machine without any training.

What Else Can You Steam in This Machine

Momos are the main use, but this machine is also good for:

  • Idli
  • Dhokla
  • Khandvi
  • Modak
  • Dimsum
  • Corn
  • Steamed vegetables

Steam cooking keeps the food moist, holds the natural taste, and needs no oil. If your kitchen serves more than one steamed item on the menu, this one machine handles all of it.

How to Use It — Step by Step

  1. Place the machine on a flat, dry counter near a power
  2. Fill the base bowl with water. Water should sit just below the first tray. Do not
  3. Stack all three aluminium
  4. Place momos on the trays. Leave small gaps between each momo so steam can move around
  5. Put the lid on
  6. Switch on using the red
  7. Set the thermostat to the right heat
  8. Wait 10 to 15 minutes. Check one momo — if the outer cover is firm and not sticky, they are
  9. Switch off. Carefully lift out the trays using the side
  10. Serve

After you are done, let the machine cool, remove the trays, wash them with soap and water, and wipe the base with a damp cloth. That is all.

Frequently Asked Questions Related To Momo Steamer

My momos are sticking to the tray. What should I do?
This is a very common problem. The fix is simple — before placing momos on the tray, lightly oil the tray surface with a brush or put a small piece of parchment paper on each tray. Do not place momos directly on a dry aluminium tray. Even a thin coat of oil stops sticking completely.
The machine is on but steam is not coming. What is the problem?
This usually means the water level in the base is too low. Switch off the machine, let it cool for a few minutes, then open and check the water level. Refill to just below the first tray. Also check that the lid is properly placed on top — if steam is escaping from the sides, the trays are not stacked tightly.
Momos on the top tray are not cooking fully but the bottom ones are done. Why?
This happens when the trays are not stacked properly or the lid is not sitting tight. Make sure all three trays are sitting flush on each other with no gaps. The lid must sit flat on the top tray. If steam is leaking out from between the trays, it will not reach the top layer properly.
How much water do I add each time?
Fill the base bowl until water is just below the bottom of the first tray. A good way to judge is — if you can see water touching the tray from below, you have filled too much. If the machine runs dry during steaming, the heating element gets damaged. Always check water level between batches.
Can I use this machine without a gas connection?
Yes. This machine runs fully on electricity. Just plug it into a normal 220V socket. No gas connection, no LPG cylinder needed. This makes it safe to use indoors — in a kitchen, a small stall, or a canteen — without any fire or gas risk.
How many momos can I make per hour with this machine?
It depends on how many momos you can fit per tray and how fast you work. Each 15-inch tray can hold around 20 to 25 momos depending on size. With three trays and a 12 to 15 minute cycle, you can steam 60 to 75 momos per batch. In one hour, running back-to-back batches, output is roughly 250 to 300 momos.
The heating element is not working. Is it repairable?
Yes. The heating element is a replaceable part. Do not try to fix it yourself. Contact Chefs Shop and our service team will help. We have a pan-India service network. Heating element damage usually happens when the machine is run without water — always make sure water is in the base before switching on.
Can I steam idli and momo at the same time in different trays?
Yes, you can use different trays for different items at the same time. Keep items with similar cooking times together. Idli and momo both take around 10 to 15 minutes, so they can go in together without any problem.
Is this machine good for a new momo stall just starting out?
Yes. This is one of the most common machines used by new momo stall owners across India. It is simple to use, runs on electricity, sits on a counter, and gives good output for the price. If you are starting a momo business and want a machine that does not need a lot of space or gas setup, this is the right choice.
Do you deliver this machine to small towns and cities?
Yes. Chefs Shop delivers pan-India. We have ready stock and can ship to most cities and towns. Contact our team with your location and we will tell you the delivery time and charges. For bulk orders or full kitchen setups, we also provide on-site installation support.
